This is a great idea for a Christmas garland or for tree and branch hangers, if you don't have a cutter then just make a cardboard template and cut around it. You can use air drying clay or make your own.
how to
3 cups of PVA glue
3 cups of cornflour (CORNSTARCH)
1 tbs glycerin
2 tbs oil
Mix it all together and blend thoroughly with a wooden spoon.
Heat in a microwave or a saucepan on the stove.
Microwave.
Microwave 2-3mins stopping to stir every 30 seconds (800w)
During the last 30secs check every 10 secs for the consistency, when it becomes thick and lumpy remove from the oven
Stove top.
Cook over a low heat for 15mins
Stir with a wooden spoon until thick and lumpy and starts to pull away from the edge of the pan.
NB do not cook too long or it will become hard and impossible to work with.
Kneading.
Coat your hands and your work surface with hand cream and knead the dough until it has cooled. Take care it can be quite hot to handle to begin with, it will be sticky and lumpy at the start but will become smooth and supple. Make a large ball and store in an air tight container for 24hrs before using, dries white and looks like porcelain.
Slices of tree branch cut, dried and painted or stamped.
Birch bark candle holder.
Just a jar wrapped in birch bark and tied with twine, lovely.
Hot glue snowflakes, to make these use a hot glue gun and form onto baking parchment, waxed paper or a sheet of glass.
Enjoy your weekend in your own way.
