My growing family all watching me in the studio!

By way of an extra a lovely present from a friend, a beautiful pencil sharpener,  I love it.

I love the fact that the more you draw the less lies he can tell.

I won't be posting until next week see you then.

Midweek meander.

Hi sorry about the late post the internet again! Studio 15's first Makers Market is done and dusted and a great day was had by all, even the weather was good to us and we had a bright October day to add to the pleasure. Here are just a few of the pictures of the event and some of the fantastic work that these people presented to the public.

Well it begins, busy makers setting up their stalls, presentation is everything!

Such pretty work and beautiful attention to detail, the wonderful 'Made to Make'

These lovely sketchbooks are enough to inspire even the most reluctant creative soul. Maker Jane Henderson, beautiful use of textiles.

Handmade ceramic buttons, ooo I love buttons and handmade, even better!

Beautiful little handmade works of art in themselves and again such attention to detail. These little notebooks are made by Ros Dyson and are the perfect little gift for a friend.

These fun little houses from 'Margrets Farm Cottage' would grace any parcel or Christmas tree they are so joyful and full of celebration promise.

I just love this cushion from Julie Bull you won't find that on the high street, wonderfully imaginative work.

I will be posting a few more images of the great work from creative souls tomorrow. Just because the makers market is over doesn't mean the makers aren't selling, if you wish to purchase any of these great items you can email 'Studio 15' and we will put you in touch. Many of the websites have been given in previous posts.

Fun Friday.

Hi, I found this work by Vanessa Cabban, just looking at it makes me smile and thats always a good thing in my opinion. I like the use of such simple materials constructed in such an inventive way, hope they make you smile as well.

Midweek meander.

For all you people out there who love old spoons or forks for that matter, here are some great ideas from the net. This old cutlery is still found in charity shops at a really cheap price so no excuses if you want to make something that you see!

A spoon chandelier.

A spoon family to enjoy playing with.

Soup spoon candle holders.

A retro sunburst mirror.

Fork hooks.
I made a set out of flattened spoons. Curling the prongs of the fork is easy with a pair of pliers, flatten them out first by hammering them on a hard surface, this technique also makes great wind chimes and mobiles.

More candlesticks,
the little candle cups which are glued on. hold the small tapper type candles, so sweet.

Handles and tie backs.

Spoons coloured with alcohol inks.

Use a fork to make a pompom easy peasy.

A fork bracelet.

Finally spoons bent up, tied around a jar and  holding dyed eggs, this would be great for Easter but also for Christmas with red eggs and a different flower arrangement. I'm sure all you creative people could come up with many more great ideas to upcycle cutlery.

Simple ideas are always the best.

Get green and get out in the fresh air this weekend.

We should all be finding ways of recycling our waste rather than just adding to the landfill mountain.
Here are some simple upcycling ideas that I found for the garden, balcony or yard.

A beautiful use for old wellies. www.sharelandscaping.com

An upright planter, just old plastic bottles and a pallet.

Little messages and

I have made these from old charity shop finds, not only upcycling but adding a bit to the charity coffers. To make them you just hammer the spoon flat and scratch in the name, go over the text with a permanent marker and wipe it off before it dries, it will stay in the text.

Lovely little nightlights from old tin cans.
tutorial www.finegardening.com look under how to.

This one is not strictly for the garden but its a simple idea for an organiser, you could of course use it to store your plant labels and tags! Sorry can't remember where I found it.

These are just a few of the many ideas easily found online, so before you throw it away have a surf around and see if you can make it into something beautiful and useful.

And the lucky winner is!

THE GIVE AWAY.

ROS DYSON.
Well done Ros, thanks for supporting my blog get in touch and I will send you your little needlecase. I hope that you enjoy using it.

Well a little bit about me this Friday. I have become interested in tea, the colours that it produces as a stain or ink, the marks that it leaves on paper and the tea bags themselves. Part of what is interesting me is the very British attachment with tea and the way that we view it as a 'cure all' for what life throws at us, in situations of stress a cup of tea is always offered by someone trying to help! From a British point of view tea could be seen as a metaphor for coping, I don't know whether any other country takes this view or whether it is traditionally a very British thing to do. Another strand of my thinking is about recording the passing of time, tea is a daily ritual for a lot of people and the first task performed every day! So with all this in mind the starting point for me is to investigate what I can do with tea.

Herbal tea bags.

I love the shape and colour of these little tubes and the fact that these are usually discarded without a second thought. It's strange isn't it what we place value on and what we consider as valueless, at one time this simple commodity was very expensive and wars have been fought over these simple things that we now take for granted.

Colours and stains from different types of teabags.

Layered teabag collage.

Beautiful rubbish!

Tea pot on, cups are waiting.
Favorite chair anticipating.
No matter what I have to do,
there's always time my friend
for you.
