Goodbye summer.

Well with the clocks going back this weekend I guess it's a big goodbye to summer, thoughts are turning to other things as the season changes. Firstly though a 1970's style last look at the passing season.

This is what you get if you asked Alexander Girad in 1971 to design something for a kids party, a lollipop sculpture, isn't it fabulous. Happy, happy happy.

Remember
The colour of springtime is in the flowers,
the colour of winter is in the imagination.

Super ceramics, careful packaging that real 'take me home' appeal from Clare Farley of Pinfold gallery.

These sweet little hangings and  brooches from 'Wooly Lakes', wear your craft with pride.

More woolly pleasures from Jane Henderson.

Just what you want, hens that don't take any looking after (no eggs though I'm afraid) these door stops are from Blue.

All of the makers gained a few pounds over the weekend, we couldn't resist these cupcakes from 'Flo's Fancies'. Flo produces beautiful handmade quality cakes to your design, you only have to ask, mmmmm.

Midweek meander.

Hi sorry about the late post the internet again! Studio 15's first Makers Market is done and dusted and a great day was had by all, even the weather was good to us and we had a bright October day to add to the pleasure. Here are just a few of the pictures of the event and some of the fantastic work that these people presented to the public.

Well it begins, busy makers setting up their stalls, presentation is everything!

Such pretty work and beautiful attention to detail, the wonderful 'Made to Make'

These lovely sketchbooks are enough to inspire even the most reluctant creative soul. Maker Jane Henderson, beautiful use of textiles.

Handmade ceramic buttons, ooo I love buttons and handmade, even better!

Beautiful little handmade works of art in themselves and again such attention to detail. These little notebooks are made by Ros Dyson and are the perfect little gift for a friend.

These fun little houses from 'Margrets Farm Cottage' would grace any parcel or Christmas tree they are so joyful and full of celebration promise.

I just love this cushion from Julie Bull you won't find that on the high street, wonderfully imaginative work.

I will be posting a few more images of the great work from creative souls tomorrow. Just because the makers market is over doesn't mean the makers aren't selling, if you wish to purchase any of these great items you can email 'Studio 15' and we will put you in touch. Many of the websites have been given in previous posts.

Anna Torma.

I thought that I would while away this Monday morning looking at more of the work of one of my favorite textile artists Canadian Anna Torma. I also thought that you might enjoy sharing this moment of pleasure with me. After a very busy but successful weekend this is sheer indulgence.

Monday madness.

Well this is it, the big lead up to our 'Meet the Makers' event at Studio 15, if your local to Penrith and the surrounding area please please come along and support us, the more the merrier as they say. We really want to continue to build a creative outlet that not only gives people the opportunity to learn new skills, or advance the ones they already have, but also supports talented tutors and makers. ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN, WE WILL THRIVE WITH YOUR SUPPORT.

A BIG THANK YOU  TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE GIVEN YOUR SUPPORT TO OUR FIRST YEAR AS 'STUDIO 15'. YOU HAVE MADE IT ALL WORTHWHILE.
To celebrate the event I am going to have my second give away next week so watch this space!

Showcasing another maker who will be joining us FLO'S FANCIES' otherwise know as Florence Reed. This lady sure knows her cakes and it's not just the look, they taste just as good! Here are a few examples of her work, a craft that you can eat mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Welcome to the world.

Celebration time.

Football mad.

If you come and join us there will be some wonderful handmade sugar decorations for sale, just the thing for all those Christmas celebrations, but if you can't be bothered making your own speak to Flo and I'm sure she will cut you a deal! AND THERE WILL BE CUP CAKES, what more can I say.

SEE YOU THERE SATURDAY 22ND OCTOBER.

More fun folk.

Look at this lovely work from maker Hannah Milburn, another great find for our 'Meet the Makers' market on the 22nd October.
The Owls and Cats are created with recycled bits of fabric which are then triple stitched with the hand drawn image, all are weighted to be used as doorstops, or paper weights etc. Brilliant!

I love these owls and cats

The pencil toppers are felt, triple stitched, stuffed and decorated with small ribbon pieces. I must add these as well to my letter to Santa.

These great little brooches are recycled leather and felt with decorative ribbon trims.

Hanah says' I describe all my work as being *stuff* and each piece has its own tag with a mini story to explain its journey'.

Have a good weekend and enjoy whatever you choose to do.
