A whisper of spring.

I'm so excited we have had glorious, wonderful SUNSHINE this weekend and you could actually feel the heat in it, how it lifts the spirits and holds the promise of whats to come!
It has gone from this:

To this

All in one week but I'm certainly not complaining, it has been a long winter!

The workshops seem to be going well and we're having fun exploring ways of integrating different techniques and adding details into the seams , layers and edges. It's the small details that make all the difference to a piece of work and they are well worth the effort.

Stitched, crochet and tatting edgings.

Buttons and crochet edging.

Felt discs with blanket stitch .

These images below are details from the work of Yoshiko Jinzenji and are taken from her wonderful book Quilt Artistry, Inspired designs from the East. She uses all natural dyes in her processes mainly bamboo. If you want to find out more about Yoshiko go to http://www.yoshikoquilt.com/

Patchwork.

Patchwork and quilting.

Beautiful edging.

Prairie points and quilting.

I recommend having a look at her books if you can they are truly inspirational.
