This beautiful chaffinch flew into the window glass, broke his neck and died. I was photographing him to capture close up detail for reference for some drawings.
This photograph amazed me, the close up detail of the feathers. I could never have seen or noticed this with the naked eye, you can see that each one has a specific purpose and shape. I was also amazed at the complexity of the colours, many more than I had ever noticed before even though this is a common bird which I thought I knew well.
