The History of animation.

Continuing on from the last post an exhibition that I came across purely by chance was the 'History of Animation' in Lucca. Did you realise that most of the early Disney animation was actually done in Italy? I didn't, in fact a great deal of the early characters for animation were drawn in Italy and at the start mostly for TV advertising, the characters became so popular that they were then turned into short animated films! The curators were kind enough to let me take photographs, recognise any of them?

These characters were actually in a real old car.

This image was an early drawing for 'The Simpsons'.

Finally part of a Disney storyboard in the process of being coloured up, it's not often that you get to see the designers original drawings, what a treat.
